Terms of Service

The agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Roster Report (“Roster Report”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of our website, web app, Roster Report for Mac, and Roster Report over iMessage (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

Who can use Roster Report

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You may use Roster Report only for yourself, not on behalf of or about another person’s account or device.

The Service

Roster Report is an assistant for your personal conversations. Roster Report for Mac reads Messages on a Mac you own and syncs information to Roster Report as described in our Privacy Policy, including message text for the people you add to your roster. Roster Report uses that information to remember details, remind you to follow up, suggest replies, and flag things like double bookings and messages sent to the wrong person.

The Service requires a Mac with Messages signed in to your iMessage account. Some features only work while that Mac is on, awake and online. Features, limits and availability may change as we improve the product; if we remove something material from a paid plan, we’ll tell you in advance.

Your account and your Mac

• Keep your sign-in methods (including passkeys) and paired devices secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
• Only pair Macs that you own or are authorised to use, signed in to your own Messages account.
• Tell us promptly at the address below if you think your account has been compromised. You can unpair a Mac from your dashboard at any time.

Your content

“Your content” means the messages, contacts, notes, screenshots, calendar data and other material you make available to the Service. You keep all rights to it. You give us a limited licence to host, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy. We don’t use your content to train AI models.

Consent and the law

Your conversations involve other people. You’re responsible for making sure your use of Roster Report complies with the laws that apply to you and to them, including privacy, data protection, and communications laws, and for obtaining any notice or consent those laws require. If you’re unsure whether you can process someone’s messages with a tool like Roster Report where you live, don’t add them to your roster.

Acceptable use

Roster Report exists to help you be a more attentive texter. You agree not to use it to:

• Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse anyone, or keep contacting someone who has asked you to stop.
• Stalk, surveil or monitor anyone, including by pairing a device or account that isn’t yours, or reading someone else’s messages without authorisation.
• Deceive anyone in ways that could harm them, including fake emergencies, lies about health or safety, or impersonating another person.
• Pressure or coerce anyone, or send sexual content to anyone who hasn’t clearly agreed to receive it.
• Contact or process messages of anyone under 18 in a romantic or sexual context.
• Send spam, bulk or automated unsolicited messages.
• Break the law, or infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
• Interfere with the Service: probing or bypassing security or plan limits, overloading our systems, scraping, or reverse engineering it except where the law allows.
• Resell the Service or use it to build a competing product.

We may investigate suspected violations and remove content, suspend features, or close accounts that break these rules. Roster Report is designed to decline requests that would hurt the people you’re talking to. Please don’t try to talk it into them.

AI output

Roster Report uses AI to summarise conversations, remember details and draft replies. AI can be wrong: it may misremember a detail, misread a plan, or suggest something that doesn’t fit. Treat everything Roster Report says as a suggestion. You decide what to send and you’re responsible for the messages you send, including ones you ask Roster Report to send for you. Don’t rely on Roster Report for anything safety-critical, medical, legal or financial.

Plans, billing and cancellation

• Roster Report (free) includes the limits shown on our pricing section, such as 3 people on your roster and 10 suggested replies per day. We may change free-plan limits.
• Roster Report Pro costs $29.99/mo (plus any applicable taxes), billed monthly in advance through Stripe. It renews automatically each month until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro until then. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we don’t provide refunds or credits for partial periods.
• If a payment fails, we may retry it and may downgrade your account to the free plan if it isn’t resolved. When that happens, the free plan’s limits apply to your account.
• We may change prices. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice, and the new price applies from your next renewal after that. If you don’t want to pay it, cancel before then.

Apple and other third parties

Roster Report is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. iMessage, Mac, macOS, iPhone, Face ID and Touch ID are trademarks of Apple Inc. Your use of Apple’s products and services is governed by Apple’s terms, and Apple may change them in ways that affect Roster Report.

Roster Report doesn’t connect to dating apps. If you import screenshots from apps like Tinder, Hinge, Bumble or Raya, make sure you’re allowed to under those apps’ terms, and only import conversations you’re part of. Those names are trademarks of their respective owners.

The Service relies on providers such as Vercel, Neon, OpenAI and Stripe, listed in our Privacy Policy. We’re not responsible for services we don’t control, but we choose them carefully.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Roster Report and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially break these Terms, if required by law, or if your use creates risk or harm for other people or for the Service. Where reasonable, we’ll give notice and a chance to fix the issue first. When your account ends, we delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as disclaimers, limits of liability and indemnity) survive termination.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will catch every conflict, wrong name or duplicate message, or that any relationship will go the way you hope. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roster Report won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or relationships, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, your messages, or your breach of these Terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and liabilities arising from that claim, to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts. If you’re a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.

Changes

We may update these Terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Roster Report after that, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
